Why Consider Using Hygienic Flooring?
Flooring finishes can be one of the last items on the list of any development, commonly heard on most sites is the call “we’ll just throw a bit of flooring down there!”. Maybe that is a bit of a generalisation, but it is fair to say that it can be overlooked. Screed is often used as a way to ensure a surface is flat and true and provides a clean surface for flooring to be laid. Floor tiles, carpet and all other manner of finishes can then be laid in full confidence that it won’t be on a slant or deteriorate in patches where there are defects in the surface below. A finish that is growing in popularity is hygienic flooring. Used in hospitals and schools, hygienic flooring is usually anti-slip, hard wearing and of course easy to clean and maintain. Due to the nature of this type of flooring, it usually provides a seamless finish that is sealed to any walls or partitions. Consider using hygienic flooring if you have an area of your home or office that you often find difficult to keep clean. Obviously kitchens and bathrooms are the ideal suitors, but it can also be used in garages as the finish not only reduces germs, it’s smooth finish means there are no trip hazards – perfect if you move a lot of items in and out of your garage on a frequent basis! Don’t think hygienic flooring is only for big developments – it can be great if you have young children, or maybe a partner or housemates who have a tendency to spill things most of the time!
