Kohlberg, Kravis, Roberts & Co (KKR) was set up in the mid-seventies and initially the company’s main business was in highly leveraged transactions. However, hoping to make their acquisitions have less environmental impact, they have set up a remarkable green project that has completely transformed the way business concerns and environmental agencies carry on their everyday business. Environmentally sound business processes became major topic of dicussion last year when Kohlberg, Kravis, Roberts & Co’s Henry Kravis and the non-profit Environmental Defense Fund (EDF) merged. These companies wants to campaign against critical matters impeding the environment, such as toxic emissions, climate change, disproportionate consumption of water resources, and resource depletion. To implement this, they employ a routine labeled eco-efficiency; this involves techniques like improving fuel economy through vehicle fleet maintenance, fuel economy, and reducing the dispersion of toxic chemicals. Although the program was a colossal success, no-one recognized how far-reaching the results really were until Ken Mehlman, the executive responsible for the program, examined the first year’s figures.

Only at that point did Ken realize that eco-efficiency wasn’t only helping to save the environment, but it was also helping to save firms a great deal of money. Up to now, Kohlberg, Kravis, Roberts & Co and Ken Mehlman have succeeded in getting virtually every associated company engaged in eco-efficiency. If you think about the fact that the group has a value of 86,000,000,000 dollars, you can see what an enormous accomplishment this actually was.

The Green Portfolio project now includes new opportunities. To illustrate, KKR linked up with the Environmental Defense Fund’s Climate Corps Program that teaches interns taking a Master’s degree in Business Administration how to introduce financially strong, green techniques.

KKR and Ken Mehlman have been creating products that will be able to evaluate and manage various resources. This type of information is crucial as businesses may easily evaluate all of their daily activities and ascertain exactly how any issues can be resolved while simultaneously seeing their progress.

Henry Kravis, the KKR, and the Environmental Defense Fund are genuine pioneers when it comes to advancing ecologically friendly business techniques. These developments have made going green easier for companies in any industry and shown that running a profitable business need not entail the hefty price of negatively impacting our planet.
